Tubular Bells - Newly Opened 6c Sports Climb - Wied Bassassa
Kurt Vella Haber has found and opened a new route (Tubular Bells - 6c) @ Wied Bassassa.

The Maltese islands (an archipelago) lie slap bang in the centre of the Mediterranean, with Malta 93km south of Sicily and 288km north of Africa. The islands consists of three main islands: Malta, Gozo and Comino over an area of 316sq km and a coastline of 196.8km in Malta and 56.01 km for the island of Gozo.
There are literally thousands of routes within the small area of Malta, Gozo and Comino with a variety of grades. You can arrive to most crags by car / and a short hike usually of less than half an hour, thus in a single day you can visit 3 crags or more! Many crags are close to the shoreline, offering stunning views.
With 300 days of sunshine a year, and a moderate climate, rock climbing can be practices throughout the whole year, though we'd recommend a shady crag or DWS in summer, and a sunny crag in winter ;)
With Malta being so small, and climbing spots so plentiful and so close to each other, and a relatively small climbing community, most climbing spots will never be occupied by more than a small group of climbers (if at all)
The various climbing spots offer both traditional and sports climbing. There is a good number of bouldering spots and several DWS climbs which are excellent for the summer months.

The Malta Climbing website is now online. Here, you will find a constant source of information about the activities of the maltese climbing community, the small in numbers but great in spirit.
Malta Climbing promises an interesting overview of feature articles, community accomplishments, updated new climbing spots and routes, and frequent updates.
With its tiny area, and variety of climbing, Malta is the ideal climbing destination, where you can get all the climbing you want without having to travel for hours to reach the crags
